My father was diagnosed with Liver Cirrhosis with Malignant Transformation with significant ascites and bilateral pleural effusion. Splenomegaly likely due to portal hypertension from the cirrhotic liver. Enlarged prostate likely BPH. And his doctor has not been able to do anything for us rather his abdominal pain keeps getting worse and his stomach swelled up. Pls doctors what advice can you provide for us. To help him with the pain and also manage the sickness.
Answered on 29th May '24
Liver cirrhosis with malignant transformation, along with significant ascites and pleural effusion, indicates serious complications, even such as cancer. Splenomegaly due to portal hypertension adds to his discomfort. Please consult a hepatologist urgently; they can provide specialized care to manage his pain, reduce swelling, and address liver-related issues.

I am fall ill with jaudince before 15 days when the doctor give the lft test it was 6.56 before 15 days now it's been 16.46
Answered on 27th May '24
When someone has jaundice, their skin and eyes may turn yellow. Liver function tests revealed high results of 6.56 and 16.46 which means that there could be a problem with it not working properly at all; this might be caused by infections or damage from things like alcoholism. Drinking lots of water, eating well regularly, and steering clear of alcohol can all help your liver heal itself again. See a hepatologist so that they can give you the right treatment and look after you properly.

Mild hepatomegaly with altered echotexture, Edematous GB wall, Mild splenomegaly with diffuse echotexture, Mild ascites , please tell me quick solution of this
Answered on 23rd May '24
The liver appears enlarged and has an abnormality in the scan; the gallbladder has a distended wall; the spleen is large and looks different; there is some extra fluid in the abdomen known as ascites. These may be due to various conditions such as infections, liver diseases, or heart problems. Eating well, keeping fit, and seeing your hepatologist regularly can help control these things.

hi doc, i have tested negative for hiv and hepatitis after 4 and 5 month after exposure.. is this test result concluds
Answered on 23rd May '24
It is good that your tests for HIV and hepatitis turned out to be negative. This indicates that the virus that causes these diseases was not present in your body at the time of testing. There is also a variation in signs of HIV and hepatitis, with some involving symptoms, such as tiredness, flu-like symptoms, and yellowing of the skin or sclera. If you are still concerned, visit a hepatologist.

My GGT Level in Liver Function Test is 465. What does that means? Any suggestions or medicines to reduce the same.
Answered on 23rd May '24
High GGT levels for a liver function test, an indication of liver disorder, is a sign that should be given attention to. It means, aside from tiredness, that an individual might also get jaundiced-skin or suffer from bellyache. It is possible that it can be due to drinking alcohol, liver disease, or some drugs. To lower these levels, try to stay away from alcoholic beverages, eat a healthy diet and have enough water. Make sure to get more accurate answers by visiting a hepatologist.

After drinking seven Penadol at once, what should you do before something happens?
Answered on 23rd May '24
I don't advocate that a person must take seven Panadol tablets all at once. It is an excessive amount and it can even be dangerous. If your body has absorbed that amount, it is necessary to immediately see a hepatologist, they will analyze you for side effects in case there are any and recommend the right treatment.

Sir I was affected HCV 13 years ago after treatment I was completely cured and my PCR negative. But when ever I go for my medical to abroad they declared me unfit and reject my visa because HCV antibodies are shown in my Blood Elisa . Is there any solution to solve out this problem please guide Can I go for Plasma therapy to remove these antibodies from blood ....?
Answered on 23rd May '24
My suggestion would be to go to a liver specialist and do the necessary tests. Immune memory of HCV infection may persist. Not plasma therapy is advised to eliminate the antibodies to HCV. A hepatologist can refer you to more specialized care or recommend other treatment options.

My father got liver disease from last 6 months after we removed galbladder 8 month before due to stone. That time doctor told having liver disease ,now they are asking to do liver transplant can you suggest is it necessary to do or any other option with medication can cure.
Answered on 23rd May '24
If your father has been diagnosed with liver disease following gallbladder removal, and the doctors are recommending a liver transplant, it suggests that his liver function has significantly declined. A liver transplant is considered the definitive treatment for end stage liver disease when other options may not be sufficient.

When you have liver cirrhosis does your belly get hard and tight and uncomfortable can't eat everything taste nasty got a bad knee that looks a bad infection like someone ate his knee off bad...
Answered on 23rd May '24
In advanced stages of liver cirrhosis, the abdomen can become distended and feel firm or tight due to fluid accumulation (ascites). This can cause discomfort and difficulty eating. Whereas changes in taste perception and a knee infection are not directly related to liver cirrhosis and would require separate evaluation

I am 26 year old and Mera abhi accident hua h. And blood test m hepatitis b+ve surface antigen - CLIA ki value 4230 ae h. To ye+ ve h kya or kita risk h
Answered on 23rd May '24
A positive hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) on a blood test shows that you are currently infected with the hepatitis B virus (HBV). The CLIA value in the test is 4230 which is considered a high level of HBsAg, that indicates a higher risk of transmission to others. Consult a hepatologist and with proper precautions to prevent transmission, its possible to manage hepatitis B.

Doctor told me my liver is damaged and that I have hepatitis b. For 2 years I took his medicine but doctor told me about hepatitis b recovery and still me to take medicine for the life time and my liver report turned out to be bad. Since last 2 month I have had heavy stomach pain.
Answered on 23rd May '24
We advise you to not discontinue any treatment course on your own, especially that related to antivirals for hepatitis B. Hepatitis B treatment can also be life-long in some cases.
We recommend you to see a liver specialist, then discuss all available options, as well as their risk/side effects/patients eligibility/pre-operative measures/tips to deal with side effects as well as your health conditions & family hisotry, and then allow the specialist to tailor your treatment for you.

My wife has issue with abdomen pain & according to Dr the lever is fatty We have done USG of upper & lower abdomen & it shows bit enlargement of lever What shall we do next
Answered on 23rd May '24
Liver enlargement and fatty liver are generally associated together. If a patient has a fatty liver, the patient needs to be evaluated for all metabolic syndrome which includes diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol and thyroid problems. Such individuals need to undergo Liver function test, also these patients may or may not need liver fibroscan to know if liver fibrosis has set in. Treatment depends upon the degree of liver injury and associated comorbidities. diagnosis of fatty liver should be taken seriously as some of these patients may develop NASH (non alcoholic steatohepatitis) in long term.
