Good evening. I'm 21 years old, I have been noticing a numbness to my pinky finger of my right hand for quite some while now, it could literally last some hours, sometimes a day, it happens like once in a week. Whenever I have this numbness, I can move the other fingers, but the pinky finger sometimes affects my fourth finger, the finger beside it. Please what can I do?.
Answered on 16th May '24
You might have a problem with a nerve in your arm that's causing your pinky and sometimes your ring finger to feel numb. This can happen if you put a lot of pressure on your elbow or do activities like typing for a long time. Try not to lean on your elbow too much or do activities that worsen it. You can also try gentle stretches to relax your hand. If the numbness continues then consult a neurologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

Here is my story, Doctor. So, two years ago, I suddenly felt immense pain in my foot and got bedridden for almost three months. And then I rushed to a physician because at the time there was no neurologist in my city. The physician tested my vitamins and gave me some vitamins. It eventually got better and I was able to walk. I was overweight at that time and my physician told me that it's all because of weight. And then I lost almost 20 kilograms, but there was still feeling of socks. I don't feel any pain or anything, but I just feel like I'm wearing socks. Then after almost two years, I visited a neurologist with this and she tested my vitamins. She prescribed me vitamin D supplements since my vitamin D is at 12, but for one month. Nothing happened with this one month treatment. Then she did my NCV. She said my NCV reports are normal and has prescribed me some vitamins again. What do you think, how much time it would take to get completely cured?
Answered on 14th May '24
Based on what you have told me, the peripheral disorder mentioned by the speaker is on track with peripheral nerve disease. In most cases, the feeling of socks on your feet could be easily attributed to peripheral neuropathy. You are lucky that your neurologist has done so many tests and that your vitamins and nerves are under control. Please continue to take the vitamins as per the doctor's prescription and remain patient. You will need some time to see improvements in your nerves. Also, keeping a check on your weight and living a healthy life will speed up your recovery while doing well.

Hello. I am a male about to marry a 23 y/o female who at the age of 19 was diagnosed with Focal Epilepsy Affecting Frontal Lobe. I am trying to see whether it is a good idea to marry and start a family with this girl. The problem is her head and eyes move to the right when she has an episode which is usually triggered by eye contact and nervousness. So her neurologist perscribed Lacosamide twice a day which she says has prevented her from having an episode in over a year, but I want to check with you if this is true/common? Also will her illness get worse later down the line especially when we start having kids? Will it spread to other parts of the brain and what will happen if that occurs? She says the side effects of the medicine is she gets drowsy and sleepy sometimes, how often does that last? Thank you.
Answered on 14th May '24
While Lacosamide can effectively prevent epilepsy episodes, its side effects like drowsiness are common. It's advisable to consult with a neurologist regarding the long-term effects of epilepsy and its potential impact on family planning. Specialists like neurologists can provide personalized guidance based on individual health conditions.

The time was 2 years ago, one day without knowing it, I felt a biting muscle above the left ankle. Then little by little after a few days the muscles started biting down to the knee and some pain in the tendon with it seemed as if the tendon was getting tight. In such a way, it gradually became the same condition as the completely fit. He also started having problems with the nerves in his head. Now the right side has the same problem. Now I feel some problem in the stomach and toilet. But no problem with urination yet. Why are they happening? And now what should I do please tell me!!!! I have seen two doctors. One says that the spinal cord is directly caused. Another says that they are caused by impingement on the spine. Treatment is not working.!!!!
Answered on 13th May '24
These symptoms may be because of something in your spine, or spinal cord that is putting pressure on the nerves. You might have been through tests already. The body part essential for treatment will need to be precisely identified. If the current treatment is not helpful, need to find the right specialist so there is a chance of a second opinion or neurologist and orthopedic doctor for further evaluation and guidance can be provided.

Subtle acute subarachnoid hemorrhage involving right tentorial leaflet
Answered on 10th May '24
If you had this condition, it would signify that there has been a tiny amount of blood leaked into the brain lining on the right side. Symptoms might include severe head pain, vomiting, nausea, and stiffness in the neck. Causes can be high blood pressure or an injury to the head such as from a fall or car accident. An aneurysm burst occurs when a weak spot in a blood vessel wall swells like a balloon. Eventually, it bursts, releasing its contents into surrounding tissues, potentially affecting the brain. Often treatment involves being closely watched in the hospital where doctors will also do some tests before deciding what might need doing next. Remember always to follow your neurologist's advice carefully.

Good day doctor Since childhood, I have always been pressing on my nerves and muscles throughout my body, and I can't control myself. It's like grinding teeth, but in my body, and it's voluntary. These are not spasms; I do them, but I can't stop them. When I try to stop myself, I feel like I'm going to explode. The issue was minor in childhood and significantly reduced during adolescence almost to the point of disappearing. However, over the past few years, the problem has worsened significantly. Currently, I'm squeezing my body's vertebrae, especially my neck, and I feel like it's twisting. I consulted a psychiatrist and neurologist who said there is no organic issue, just a bit of anxiety. I took medications for anxiety and stress, but there was no effect. Thank you very much for your time

Answered on 10th Feb '24
Physical Therapy: Physical therapy is important. A physical therapist can offer strength and flexibility enhancing exercises that will help maintain the muscles, and provide adaptive devices to aid in performing daily activities.
Occupational Therapy: Hand tremors can be adjusted through occupational therapy allowing you to remain independent in daily tasks.
Medication and Medical Care: Another aspect is the importance of regular control by a neurologist or some kind of specialist in muscular disorders. They also suggest any drugs that can be used to enhance muscle strength and tremor control.
Lifestyle Modifications: Adjusting your home and work setting to fit you, and familiarity with ergonomic instruments can also be of great help alongside practicing relaxation methods.

Hello I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to discuss some ongoing health concerns that have persisted since I experienced cerebral meningitis a few years ago. Initially, the treatment process faced challenges, leading to subsequent neurological issues. Although most aspects of my health have improved, I continue to grapple with a specific matter related to urinary and bowel control. Following the meningitis treatment, I encountered difficulty using the restroom, leading to the use of a catheter for approximately three weeks. Subsequently, once the catheter was removed, I experienced challenges in retaining urine, necessitating the use of diapers, particularly during the night. Presently, after five years, while I have achieved some improvement in urinary control, there are instances, especially during the night, when I still face issues with involuntary urination. Additionally, I find it challenging to maintain control over bowel movements. There is a correlation between retaining urine and the urge to defecate, often resulting in occasional accidents. This situation has led to a degree of stress, particularly when venturing outside. I am reaching out to seek your expert advice on whether these issues may be treatable or if there are potential avenues for improvement. Your insights and recommendations regarding any further evaluations or treatments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your guidance on managing and addressing these persistent challenges. Sincerely,

I wanna try to get scanned for a brain tumour, this thought has gone as far back as grade 8 and I know this is out of proportion insane but I mean at first it started with the moments of feeling like I was getting dumber instead of smarter, not like beating myself up but just the actual feeling of losing information Then it was the foggy memories, messed up timeline, all of which I just kinda blamed on Parasomnia Then it was the derealization, the feeling of my grip on the world was leaving me and I’ve just tried so hard to fight it The change in my thoughts I mean I’ve become borderline obsessive, bi polar at my worst and even just thinking of life differently I mean in grade 9 I even just lost so much sense of fear, I started being way more reckless than before Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if it was what helped Mono attack my body harder I mean looking at symptoms yeah I only have the less severe ones but even loss of hearing and vision change has kinda set in I’ve heard stories of people who didn’t bother to check man and it just makes me afraid that I’m a ticking time bomb until the time someone sees me faint and not wake up Today in class I got, so, so lightheaded, and I just feel this impending doom sitting on my chest man

Dear Sir, Below i am sending my father MRI report, kindly guide me. MRI REPORT – BRAIN WITH CONTRAST TECHNIQUE: T1W Sagittal, DWI - b1000, ADC, GRE T2W FS Axial, MR Angiogram, FLAIR Axial & Coronal Post contrast images after administration of 5 ml of gadolinium contrast. OBSERVATION: The study reveals an intrasellar mass lesion, with enlargement of the right half of the anterior pituitary gland, extending to the suprasellar cistern. The mass lesion is predominantly isointense to gray matter on T1-weighted images. On T2-weighted images the mass is predominantly isointense to gray matter with internal areas of T2 hyperintensity suggestive of ?necrosis/cystic change. Dynamic postcontrast images revealed decreased/delayed enhancement of the mass lesion as compared to the rest of the pituitary gland. The mass lesion measures 1.2 AP x 1.6 TR x 1.6 SI cm. Superiorly the mass displaces the infundibulum to the left side. A clear CSF plane of cleavage is seen between the superior aspect of the mass lesion and the optic chasm. No significant parasellar extension of the mass lesion is seen. The cavernous segment of both internal carotid arteries show normal flow void. The mass causes mild thinning of the floor of the sella turcica, with slight bulge toward the roof of the sphenoid sinus. MR findings likely represent pituitary adenoma. Confluent and discrete areas of T2/flair hyperintensity are seen in bilateral supratentorial periventricular and subcortical deep white matter, likely representing nonspecific ischemic changes with a combination of leukoariosis, microvascular ischemic changes, lacunar infarcts and prominent perivascular spaces. Basal ganglia and thalami are normal. Midbrain, pons and medulla are normal in signal intensity. The cerebellum appears normal. Bilateral CP angle cisterns are normal. The ventricular system and subarachnoid spaces are normal. No significant midline shift is seen. The cranio-cervical junction is normal. Post-contrast images reveal no other abnormal enhancing pathology. Bilateral maxillary sinus polyps are noted.

Extensive tests including MRI of brain, chest, EMG, abdomen, ABI, spine, etc. have been done but no significant disease has been found. Constant routine blood tests have shown no major problems. My partner has had a total of 3 seizures from overdoses. She's sober now & I really need to know the health implications, mainly in relation to brain function / impairment. The reason I am even more worried on top of the seizures, is that during each one her whole body would go limp, and her eyes would go blank. I don't mean like looking forward, I mean a legitimate dead look to it, a glaze, I was somewhat reminded of cataracts; seemed as if her actual soul was disconnected from her body & her lips would start going gray/blue; shallow breathing if any at all during this specific part. Put simply, it looks as if she was momentarily dead..
